FINAL EXAM PREPARATION RESOURCES
Dear Students and Families,
Our district’s Secondary MTSS Coordinator, Taylor Antoski, has put together a few resources for you as we approach final exams. Since this will be the first time many of you have taken final exams, we want to give you tools for success that will carry you through the remainder of high school and even college, should that be your path.
Please begin with video found here: Promo Video. This video was compiled by all three high school’s Student Councils and gives tips and tools for exam preparation.
Final Exam Readiness Resources for Secondary Students
Last month, the Curriculum Department launched the “Final Exam Readiness Challenge”. All high school students have access to resources to aid them in preparing for final exams. Resources include a calendar with daily preparation challenges, a planner to document key test information (as shown below), and videos with study tips. The videos, made in collaboration with RCS Student Council members, will be shown to students during the school day. Videos and resources will also be e-mailed to students throughout the month of December.
If you have questions about building specific support opportunities, please contact your high school’s academic center.

SPOTLIGHT ON INSTRUCTION
Special Guest: Megan Rehm
Students extracted Silver from Silver Nitrate through a decomposition reaction. This reaction took place inside of a glass ornament - which left students with a silver coated ornament to take home. Students had a great time decorating and watching the reaction take place. Earlier in the semester, students learned about reaction types and differences between elements and compounds. This lab helped reinforce those topics as we headed into a break!
REPORTING ATTENDANCE
Log in to ParentVue at rcsvue.rochester.k12.mi.us/
Note: Our students’ attendance matters to us. We want and expect them to be here as much as possible. We value their presence, and their academic success is dependent on it. Organized or coordinated absences from school are not endorsed by Rochester Community Schools, for example “Senior Skip Days”. Students who decide to take part in these events will be responsible for all missed work and assessments that occur on that day. Teachers will be continuing instruction as normal.

SHERIFF MIKE BOUCHARD UPDATES!
Oakland County Sheriff, Mike Bouchard, is asking all Oakland County school districts to show the attached school safety video to all students.
The content in the video link below covers two important areas:
1)If you see something, say something – Asking all students to report anything that makes them uncomfortable, scared or unsafe.
2)Inappropriate messages (verbal, written or social media) will be investigated and prosecuted – Reminding all students to be mindful of what they say and post. Inappropriate messages that scare people are against the law.
