- March 9, 2022 - 8th grade parent night at AHS from 6pm – 8pm!
If you have a first semester only textbook and/or a novel to return, please bring to Mrs. Kesman in the AP Office any time throughout the day on Monday, January 24th. This includes virtual students. We need these one semester only textbooks returned so the second semester students can check them out this week.
If your child has an early dismissal please call the attendance line as early as possible in the day at 248-726-5310. This is an automated number that is checked continuously between 6:30am – 3:00pm. Have your student pick up their pass in the morning, during passing time, or at lunch. We do not deliver passes. However, we will deliver a pass if it is a last minute emergency.
If you do not call to report the early dismissal you will have to wait until one of our Safe-Ed Security interrupts the class to get the student which can take up to 15 minutes. Once the early dismissal is reported and the student has picked up their pass they are free to meet you in the pick-up loop. You are not required to come into the building.

Although, our drinking fountains are all turned off throughout the building, we do have several functioning water filling stations available for your students to get water from. They need to bring a water bottle to school with them each day. Remember, water is available for purchase during lunch periods in the school store. Also, in the vending machines for purchase.
SPOTLIGHT ON INSTRUCTION
Special Guest Teachers: Mrs. Carnella Johnson & Mrs. Melissa Perkins
During the month of January, the Adams High School Social Justice Club has been busy preparing to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday. Under the leadership of Tiffany Goliday, the RCS Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as well the Adams’ Social Justice Club Advisors, Carnella Johnson and Melissa Perkins, students from Adams as well as the other RCS high schools gathered to make bags filled with toiletries and useful items for those in need. Dr. King advocated for justice for those experiencing poverty, and these students honored his vision.

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS
Dear RCS Families,
The Oakland County Health Division (OCHD) states that daycares and educational institutions, to include pre-kindergarten through grade 12, are required to ensure all students, teachers, staff and community members consistently and properly wear facial coverings while inside a school building or structure, regardless of vaccination status.
Yesterday evening (January 12, 2022), the Oakland County Health Division (OCHD) further released updated School Quarantine and Isolation Guidance for K-12 schools. The most current document, dated Jan. 12, 2022, is attached and outlined, below. OCHD School Quarantine-Isolation Guidance 1-12-22.pdf
OCHD recommends vaccinations for staff and students ages 5 and up and boosters for eligible individuals ages 12 and up.
ISOLATE IF YOU TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status
Students, teachers and staff who test positive for COVID-19 and/or display COVID-19 symptoms should isolate regardless of vaccination status.
It is strongly recommended that unvaccinated individuals take a rapid antigen test on day 5 of isolation and return only if it is negative. If you test positive or are unable to test, remain out for 10 days.
The guidance states that under no circumstances should someone with COVID-19 return to school in fewer than 5 full days. Cases that return after 5 days should avoid people who are immunocompromised or at high risk for severe disease until after at least 10 days.
QUARANTINE IF YOU WERE EXPOSED TO SOMEONE WITH COVID-19
Who does NOT need to quarantine?
Who NEEDS to quarantine?
Household scenarios are also provided in the updated School Quarantine and Isolation Guidance to help families with decisions about the need to quarantine.
The OCHD emphasizes that this is an evolving situation and information and resources will continue to be updated. For questions regarding this guidance, please visit the Oakland County website at www.oakgov.com/covid, or contact the Nurse on Call at 800-848-5533.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Dr. Robert Shaner
Superintendent

2022-2023 SCHEDULING MEETINGS
Hello Adams Families!
Please see below for the dates when your student will be meeting with counselors regarding the scheduling process (choosing classes for next school year). We will be presenting to students in their English classrooms to pass out scheduling cards and discuss how to fill them out. Once students and families have completed their cards, they should turn them in to their English teachers. In addition, students are required to input their course requests into StudentVUE before they submit their cards to their teachers. For the final step of the process, Counselor Review, students will come down to the counseling office to meet with their counselor individually to go over their course requests together and ask any questions they may have.
All scheduling materials including our PowerPoint, with the exception of the scheduling card, can be found on Google Classroom. There is also a short video posted on Google Classroom explaining how to enter the courses into Synergy through StudentVue.
