LGBTQ+ MONTH
GSA (gender & sexuality alliance)
Happy October 1st! Today is the official start of LGBTQ+ History Month. LGBTQ+ History Month is a month-long celebration of the history of the diverse and beautiful lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community.
Started in 1994 by gay high school teacher Rodney Wilson of Missouri and some of his community members, every year for LGBTQ+ History Month, we take this time to reflect and learn about the people, places, and moments that helped move the LGBTQ+ community forward on its path to acceptance and equality. The LGBTQ+ community is strong and will continue to grow stronger.

NO PLACE FOR HATE
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Rochester Community Schools believes that an important foundation for successful teaching and learning includes the need to feel safe, valued and respected. To that end, Adams High School will be participating in No Place for Hate®, a national program that supports schools in their commitment to honor diversity, promote respect for differences, challenge bias, and prevent bullying at all levels.
No Place for Hate was developed by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a leading anti-hate organization that has worked for more than a century to “secure justice and fair treatment to all.” No Place for Hate will help RCS incorporate valuable resources into existing programs to have one consistent message of inclusivity.
To learn more about No Place for Hate, or to access family resources on challenging bullying and bias, please go to: https://www.adl.org/education-and-resources/resources-for-educators-parents-families.
If you have questions about No Place for Hate, please contact a building administrator. With your help, we will continue to ensure that our school community is a safe and welcoming space for all.

Dear Parents and Students of the Class of 2023,
All seniors for the class of 2023 need to get their YEARBOOK PORTRAIT taken by Prestige Portraits. This service is provided free of charge and includes insertion in the yearbook, as well as on the class composite. Students must have their yearbook photo taken by November 5, 2022 in studio (see address below).
Once the photos are processed, students/parents must choose their preferred photo by November 24, 2022. If a pose is not chosen by that date, the studio will choose a pose to be submitted. Prestige will then send the photo directly to Mr. Lovalvo. There is nothing else that the student (or parent) needs to do in order to appear in the yearbook or on the class composite.
Students and parents will still have the opportunity to go to their preferred choice of photographer, if it is not Prestige Portraits, for their other senior photos. While only the yearbook pose sitting fee is FREE OF CHARGE, Prestige will be offering significant discounts for other senior picture packages as well. For instance, if you complete your session by 9/3/2022, you’ll receive $10 off the Standard session or higher.
Please remember that this is a more formal section of the yearbook than the underclassmen photo section. Because of this, students need to dress up - shirt/tie/suit coat, collared shirt, dress, blouse, etc. All clothing needs to meet these specifications and the RCS dress code policy in order to be included in the yearbook and on the class composite. If you (or your child) need help obtaining proper attire, need more information regarding attire, or need help with transportation to the studio, please contact Mr. Lovalvo at [email protected].
Please call 248-377-2444 or go online at http://www.prestigeportraits.com/studio and make a senior portrait appointment as soon as possible. Although the deadline to be photographed is November 5, 2022, appointments fill quickly.
Students who do not get their yearbook photo taken with Prestige by the deadline will not appear in the senior section of the yearbook.
