SPOTLIGHT ON INSTRUCTION
Special Guest: Ms. Charlotte Morey
Students from Ms. Morey’s Robotic 1 and 2 classes built their own robots for class. In order to test and evaluate the limitations of the robot, students had to assess- how much could their robot carry? How long the battery lasts when constantly running? At what point does the robot start to tip when weight is added to the “claw”? Students performed the various tests by carrying around buckets of candy to students during lunch. Just to add a bit of HALLOWEEN FUN, students had to create a costume for their robot that wouldn’t interfere with the productivity of robot or impede it in anyway. The students were able to interact with fellow classmates and their robot, also informing others that Adams has a robotic class as well as a robotics club. Everyone is welcome to take Robotics Class.
The students from the Robotic class are also engaged in “Support A Project” that is hosted by the RCS Foundation. The students are looking to purchase an AIBO-Robotic dog so that Artificial Intelligence can be studied in person in the Robotic Classes.

You can obtain a work permit in the counseling office as well as in the vestibule outside of the main office.
Make sure to choose the appropriate form (there is a form for UNDER 16 and a separate form for 16 & 17 years old).
Complete Section I, have your employer complete Section II, then bring it back to AHS to be completed. If a parent is bringing the form for their student, we will need a photo ID of the student in order to complete the work permit. Work permits are completed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

PARKING PASSES
Parking passes are currently available for distribution! Parking passes are available for purchase throughout the 2022-2023 school year. See: Mrs. Kari Harma-Dennis for parking passes in the main office.
SAFETY AND SECURITY IS TOP PRIORITY!
The safety and security of all students and staff at Adams High is always a top priority. To help us in these efforts, please see the information below:
- During Arrival students can enter through 3 entrances, Main (Door 1), Athletics (Door 11), and Highlander Highway (Door 20). All external doors will be locked at 7:30 AM.
- Campus will remain closed throughout the school day. All grades will have lunch on campus.
- Students are NOT to utilize fast food delivery services. For example, DoorDash, GrubHub, Instacart, or Uber Eats, etc. for food delivery.
- If students are traveling to other campuses throughout the day, they are asked to check out of AHS in the Attendance Office and check back in when they return.
- Students are encouraged to utilize their assigned lockers to minimize their belongings in the classroom.
- If you see something, say something. Please report all safety and security concerns to the Main Office Staff or to Deputy Dan Prachar.
REPORTING ATTENDANCE
Please remember that students are only allowed to leave the building with parent/guardian permission. You have 2 options to report any absence:
- Report it right into your ParentVue Account by pressing Report Absence next to your students name and in the Note section state the time of the early dismissal or late arrival then hit SAVE. This is the #1 preferred option.
- Call the attendance line at 248-726-5310. Please SPELL your students first and last name. Without spelling the name the absence could get missed.
Note: Our students’ attendance matters to us. We want and expect them to be here as much as possible. We value their presence, and their academic success is dependent on it. Organized or coordinated absences from school are not endorsed by Rochester Community Schools, for example “Senior Skip Days”. Students who decide to take part in these events will be responsible for all missed work and assessments that occur on that day. Teachers will be continuing instruction as normal.

MS. GEMELLARO'S SENIOR PROJECT PICS
Seniors in Ms. Gemellaro’s Composition 12 class have been working diligently in groups for the last five weeks on their inquiry-based learning senior projects. One of the requirements is to make a five minute “highlights reel” video presentation to generate excitement for their classmates about their problem-solution topics. Each group will be showcasing their final project, research, and their solutions in a multi-media, hour-long presentation starting next week.

All seniors for the class of 2023 need to get their YEARBOOK PORTRAIT taken by Prestige Portraits. This service is provided free of charge and includes insertion in the yearbook, as well as on the class composite. Students must have their yearbook photo taken by November 5, 2022 in studio (see address below).
Once the photos are processed, students/parents must choose their preferred photo by November 24, 2022. If a pose is not chosen by that date, the studio will choose a pose to be submitted. Prestige will then send the photo directly to Mr. Lovalvo. There is nothing else that the student (or parent) needs to do in order to appear in the yearbook or on the class composite.
Students and parents will still have the opportunity to go to their preferred choice of photographer, if it is not Prestige Portraits, for their other senior photos. While only the yearbook pose sitting fee is FREE OF CHARGE, Prestige will be offering significant discounts for other senior picture packages as well. For instance, if you complete your session by 9/3/2022, you’ll receive $10 off the Standard session or higher.
Please remember that this is a more formal section of the yearbook than the underclassmen photo section. Because of this, students need to dress up - shirt/tie/suit coat, collared shirt, dress, blouse, etc. All clothing needs to meet these specifications and the RCS dress code policy in order to be included in the yearbook and on the class composite. If you (or your child) need help obtaining proper attire, need more information regarding attire, or need help with transportation to the studio, please contact Mr. Lovalvo at [email protected].

RAHCC RECRUITING
The Rochester Auburn Hills Community Coalition (RAHCC) Youth Action Council is looking for middle and high school students to volunteer for community events all year long. Students will gain leadership skills, earn community service hours and help make a difference. The RAHCC supports mental health, builds awareness about substance misuse, and encourages healthy lifestyle choices through programming in the schools and throughout the community. The Coalition also awards a scholarship to deserving students. If interested, please send an email with your name, grade (in the fall) and school to:
