Michigan Merit Exam(MME) and PSAT
Rochester Community Schools will be conducting state-mandated PSAT and SAT tests for middle and high school students during the week of April 12. The daily schedule will be much like the one we have used in the past, which allows for the best testing environment for students. Due to the staff proctoring the PSAT and SAT tests in small groups, only students who are testing will be present in the building during testing times, which are most of the day on Tuesday, April 13th and the morning of Wednesday, April 14th.
Secondary students who attend the Virtual Campus can take these tests at their home building. Virtual Campus student needing transportation to their home building for testing should contact the transportation department by emailing [email protected]. Students will be given directions regarding bus stop location and time.
It is strongly recommended, but not required, that all students take these tests as scheduled. The PSAT provides very important feedback on how students can best prepare for the SAT, which is generally used to determine college acceptance. Students opting not to take the test will not report to school or have virtual classes on April 13th.
If you have questions regarding the testing schedule, please reach out to your building administrators or to the Curriculum Office.

A Note From Kim Kelly - PTSA President
Hello Highlanders!–hard to believe that we are already at Spring Break. The PTSA has been running full steam ahead, providing great experiences for our current students and looking forward to next year. We have some exciting ideas for school gifts and teacher grants in the works and will be discussing them at our next PTSA meeting on Tuesday, April 13th at 9:30 am via zoom. At our last meeting, the membership approved a grant so our new band director may update and refresh music for all students.
Open committee chair and volunteer opportunities for parents and students will be coming out after the break, as well as information on PTSA graduation cords. In the meantime, please contact Kate Bass at [email protected] with any questions.
I hope everyone has a safe and healthy break and returns refreshed and ready to get back to business!

Career Info Opportunities for Families
Student 1:1 Device
RCS is committed to being a 1:1 district. Secondary students should bring their fully charged Chromebook or personal computer ready to use each day. Students who prefer to use their own personal computer or laptop from home and at school, should not check out an RCS Chromebook. Please consider that we recommend the device being used by a student has a working camera to support attendance, collaboration, and completing assignments. Using a district issued Chromebook provides a consistent experience and helps RCS provide the best support possible. As we maximize our budget and resources, we encourage families to be considerate and only check out district devices that will be used.
