TRI-HIGH WINTER GUARD TEAMS
AT STATE FINALS!
We’re excited to share the rosters for the 2025–26 RCS Winter Guard teams and give a quick update on what’s ahead this season.
In case you don't know, winter guard is an indoor competitive activity that builds upon the fall color guard program. Both our JV and Varsity teams will compete in the Michigan Color Guard Circuit from January through the end of March, with State Championships taking place on March 28 this year. This marks our twelfth winter season, which is something we’re very proud to celebrate! Both of our teams have had a lot of success in recent years at the state competition. Our varsity team earned 1st place in the state in their division in 2022 and JV earned 1st place in their division in 2023.
The program is run through Stoney Creek, but we welcome students from all RCS secondary schools. We’re thrilled to have strong participation again this year, especially from RHS and AHS. You can learn more about our program at http://scguard.weebly.com/
In case you're curious, here are the rosters for each of the two teams.
JV TEAM:
Adams: Lana Ferow, Addison Hansard, Addison Kurtin, Jinju Suk, and Angelo Trombetta
Stoney Creek: Brooklynn Comiska, Shelby Comiska, Robert Delia-Shea, Xandera Delia-Shea, June Ehlert, Olivia Lee, Ximena Lozano, Evy Manetta, Kylie Skalny, Teresa Wagner-Deluna, Gabby Wenner, Sabrina Wilinski, and Jay Zaccardelli
Rochester: Grace Farr and Emily Wisniewski
VARSITY TEAM:
Adams: Quinn Cardimen, Mila Jaros, Amelia Nowak, Lauren Son, Sydney Welch
Stoney Creek: Beatriz Bustamante, Maiya Ford, Rain Gagoh, Gabby Gardner, Alina Ju, Reika Kaneko, Zoey Maloney, and Victoria Sotomayor-Losoya
Rochester: Ollie Georgi and Eric Gregorio
Furthermore, we wanted to pass along some very exciting news about the JV and Varsity winter guard teams. Both teams competed in the State Finals Competition with the Michigan Color Guard Circuit on Saturday, March 28 at the Breslin Center on the campus of MSU.
We are very excited to announce that the JV team earned first place in their round of competition, which is a huge accomplishment!
The varsity team earned third place in the State of Michigan in their division, which is by far the best State Finals finish in team history!
We are incredibly proud of the hard work of the performers on each team (see lists below) and the dedication of the staff members and designers who helped our students reach their full potential!

PARENT DROP-OFF LOOP
Dear Adams Families,
At RCS, the safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our absolute top priority. To ensure a smooth, secure start to the school day for everyone, it is crucial that all families strictly adhere to our established traffic and entry procedures.
To keep the flow of traffic moving and keep our students out of harm's way, please note the following requirements:
- Pull Forward: When entering the drop-off lane, please pull your vehicle forward as far as possible. Our one-way loop extends all the way to the stop sign; utilizing the full length of the loop prevents backups onto main roads.
- Front Entrance Only: All students are required to enter through the front doors. For security purposes, back doors remain locked throughout the morning.
- No Alternative Drop-Offs: There is no dropping off or picking up allowed in the back of the building, along the sides, or within the parking lot. These areas are not supervised for student arrival.
- Follow the Rules: Drivers are expected to follow all posted traffic signs and rules, both on school grounds and on the surrounding public streets.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

AUTHORS IN APRIL
Hello High School Principals & PTSA Presidents,
Authors in April is hoping you can help us spread the word. We are again looking for high school students to introduce this year’s authors at the annual banquet. This is a great opportunity for students to meet authors and give back to a program that they enjoyed in their elementary and middle school years.
I have attached a flyer with all the details and a QR code where students can apply. We would appreciate you sharing this in newsletters, announcements, social media - wherever! You know the best ways to reach your students. If there are TVs in the building that I could make a slide version of this for, let me know, and I’m happy to do that too.
Thank you!

FREE MEALS continue throughout the 2025-2026 school year!
Dear Rochester Community Schools Families,
On Oct. 3, 2025, the Michigan legislature passed a state education budget that includes free breakfast and lunch at school through the Michigan School Meals program. Governor Whitmer signed the legislation as she previously expressed her support of the Michigan School Meals program.
Rochester Community Schools families will continue to offer free meals for ALL students on school days.
Daily menus and nutrition information are available at the food services page on the district website. Please follow the Nutrislice menu button.
Families in need are encouraged to complete an application to qualify for additional community resources and benefits.
Families who complete the Application for Summer EBT and Education Benefits for Michigan School Meals Program (formerly called the Free and Reduced-Price School Meals application), may be eligible for student benefits, discounts and waivers including: free pay-to-participate extracurricular activities and club fees; testing and college application fees; field trips, school activities, senior all-night parties, etc.; Operation School Bell and Assistance League of Southeastern Michigan; Rochester Area Youth Assistance; Fueling Kids’ Futures - One Meal at a Time, formerly Blessings in a Backpack; and other resources through charitable organizations.
A new application is required at the beginning of each school year.
Additionally, families in need should be aware of Fueling Kids’ Futures – One Meal at a Time, formerly Blessings in a Backpack, which is designed to help meet the nutritional needs of school-age children who participate in the Free or Reduced-Price School Meals program at school.
Each week during the school year, students enrolled in the program will receive a bag of non-perishable food items to take home on the weekends. Bags are dispensed in a discreet and caring manner. The meals may include items such as macaroni and cheese, beef ravioli, canned tuna, granola bars, peanut butter, soups, fruit and other items.
There is no cost to participants for this program.
If you would like to have your child participate in Fueling Kids' Futures, please complete the form and return it to your student’s school as soon as possible. If you have more than one student attending the school, list the names of all children in the school. Please be sure to indicate if your child has any food allergies. Parents and caregivers are responsible for checking all food labels when the food arrives home.
This is a community-based program sponsored by Fueling Kids’ Futures, Community Foundation of Greater Rochester, Sam's Club and the greater Rochester community, in partnership with Rochester Community Schools.
We are pleased to join in the state’s continued commitment to providing free school meals and better serving our students and families.
Sincerely,
Nicholas A. Russo, Ed.S.
Superintendent

A friendly reminder, families will no longer be required to make appointments to have their Chromebook replaced! Everything can now be done in school, using our ticketing system, Incident IQ.
Why are we changing this process?
What will the new process look like?
How will this new process help families & students receive the best support?
FAQ
What will be happening to our appointment site?
Can appointments still be made to come to the Admin Building?
Will this process also work for students who need to purchase replacement chargers?
Yes! Your TA knows that students who need to purchase a replacement charger would require them to follow this workflow.
Please note that this process is brand new for everyone, so there will be some growing pains. If you or your building staff notice anything that may need to be tweaked or if you have any questions, please reach out to myself or Lynn ([email protected])
Why are we changing this process?
- Our current process requires all families to come to the Administration Building to swap their Chromebook out for a replacement device.
- This creates long delays for students to complete schoolwork at home
- Families need to make special arrangements to come to the Administration Building, usually resulting in them taking off work.
- Ongoing construction in front of the Administration Building causes confusion & frustration for families trying to get to their appointments
What will the new process look like?
- The student will bring their Chromebook to the Media Center for the TA to inspect for damage
- TA will determine if payment is needed to replace device
- In certain cases, an Elementary TA will swap the device at the building if no payment is needed.
- If payment is needed, an Incident IQ ticket will be created
- TA sends Chromebook to Help Desk @ Admin DQ
- Help Desk assess damage and contacts parent/guardian of damage and cost to replace
- Card Payment Preferred but cash or check option is available
- Once payment is made, Help Desk will send a replacement device to your buildings TA
- TA will receive the device and deliver the device to student/teacher
How will this new process help families & students receive the best support?
- Families will no longer have to make arrangements to come to the Administration Building
- Turnaround time will be faster for students.
FAQ
What will be happening to our appointment site?
- The appointment site will not be going away, I will be working with the site manager to update the site to now have a page to let them know of the new way to get their student’s device repaired.
Can appointments still be made to come to the Admin Building?
- Yes! Appointments will still be available on the same days of the week at the same times. We understand that parents/guardians prefer to come in person, rather than have everything done through email/on the phone. We also understand that some parents/guardians may have availability in their schedule to take care of this faster than the new workflow.
Will this process also work for students who need to purchase replacement chargers?
Yes! Your TA knows that students who need to purchase a replacement charger would require them to follow this workflow.
