SPOTLIGHT ON INSTRUCTION
Special Guests: Know Resolve and Here4U Club
Know Resolve and Here4U organized and ran our Social Emotional Wellness Activity this past week. Students were separated into groups that were led by an Adams Senior. Students had the opportunity to engage in an expressive art activity followed by a small group discussion. This is part of Know Resolve’s Detour Project, an expressive art program designed to give teens the tools and skills needed to start a creative practice that will help improve their overall well being.

ARMED SERVICES VOCATIONAL
APTITUDE BATTERY (ASVAB) TEST
RCS will be offering the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test on Saturday, May 20, from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m., at Rochester High School, to students interested in a military career or who need some additional career guidance.

Once the results have been processed, the ASVAB summary sheets will be printed and returned to the school with a copy of the career guide for each participant.

Administrators are currently using course request data to determine staffing and build the master schedule. Therefore, no changes can be made to course requests at this time. There will be a window of time in May where students can request a course change for next year. Those requests will be considered on a case by case basis. More information will follow in May.

Interested students can access a College Tip Sheet HERE with information regarding the college application process. In May, counselors will visit junior classrooms to discuss this information.

AHS E-SPORTS
The Michigan High School Esports League (MHSEL) helped run the DC Sanctum Series: Smash 2023 Tournament on Saturday, March 4 at Divine Child High School with our friends from Concordia University. We had 17 different high schools representing a field of 60+ students who competed individually on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
For many students, this was their first competition. Six students represented Rochester Adams High School at the tournament.
MHSEL’s spring 2023 Season State Championships will be held in-person on Saturday, April 29 at Western Michigan University. Please click here to learn more and register!
Congratulations to all of the individuals who spent their Saturday with us and a big thank you to all of the coaches, administrators and parents who helped support the event as well. We hope to see you at the Spring Championships on April 29!
In closing, yesterday our SSBU team here at Adams finished their regular season. We finished as the ONLY undefeated SSBU team in MHSEL for the season and finished with the #1 rank. To put that in context, MHSEL had 129 different High School teams this season and Adams is the only team undefeated. I am really proud of the guys and now we move onto the playoffs.

APRIL IS ARAB AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH!
April is Arab-American Heritage Month, a month dedicated to recognizes the achievements of Arab-Americans throughout American history. Today, April 19th, marks the date that Arab-American Heritage Month was officially recognized by a president in 2021, when Arab-America and the Arab-American Foundation received a letter from President Biden applauding their mission and officially recognizing April as Arab-American Heritage Month. The Arab-American population continues to grow in the United States, especially in states such as New York, Texas and Michigan. This month is very impactful living in Michigan, the state with the second highest Arab-American population in the U.S and the largest Mosque in the entire country. THE 2023 ADAMS VETERINARY SCIENCE TEAM
The 2023 Adams Vet Science Team made up of 6 outstanding seniors Sarah Magid, Lucy Gowans, Kate Wornson, Luisa Stacioni Saito, Sophia Gale, and Clayton Richmond won this years competition against Stoney Creek and Rochester. This competition was the culmination of 8 weeks of work at the Oakland Veterinary Hospital. A special thanks to Adams Alumni and class sponsor Dr. Monica, Dr. Booth and the rest of the staff.

The Rochester Mountain Bike Team 2023 season is nearly underway! There will be a student interest meeting immediately after school in the Media Center on Thursday, April 20th. The meeting is for students who are interested in joining the mountain bike team for the first time.

The safety and security of all students and staff at Adams High is always a top priority. To help us in these efforts, please see the information below:
- During Arrival students can enter through 3 entrances, Main (Door 1), Athletics (Door 11), and Highlander Highway (Door 20). All external doors will be locked at 7:30 AM.
- Campus will remain closed throughout the school day. All grades will have lunch on campus.
- Students are NOT to utilize fast food delivery services. For example, DoorDash, GrubHub, Instacart, or Uber Eats, etc. for food delivery.
- If students are traveling to other campuses throughout the day, they are asked to check out of AHS in the Attendance Office and check back in when they return.
- Students are encouraged to utilize their assigned lockers to minimize their belongings in the classroom.
- If you see something, say something. Please report all safety and security concerns to the Main Office Staff or to Deputy Dan Prachar.

The District Chromebook Troubleshooting website is now live (See below). It has the most common problems that students are experiencing and how they can try to fix them. We are hoping that this will get students back to work a little quicker.

RAHCC RECRUITINGThe Rochester Auburn Hills Community Coalition (RAHCC) Youth Action Council is looking for middle and high school students to volunteer for community events all year long. Students will gain leadership skills, earn community service hours and help make a difference. The RAHCC supports mental health, builds awareness about substance misuse, and encourages healthy lifestyle choices through programming in the schools and throughout the community.
