May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPIs) Heritage Month, celebrating the contributions, culture, and history of these diverse communities in the United States. The 2026 theme is "Power in Unity: Strengthening Communities Together". PARENT DROP-OFF LOOP
Dear Adams Families,
At RCS, the safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our absolute top priority. To ensure a smooth, secure start to the school day for everyone, it is crucial that all families strictly adhere to our established traffic and entry procedures.
To keep the flow of traffic moving and keep our students out of harm's way, please note the following requirements:
- Pull Forward: When entering the drop-off lane, please pull your vehicle forward as far as possible. Our one-way loop extends all the way to the stop sign; utilizing the full length of the loop prevents backups onto main roads.
- Front Entrance Only: All students are required to enter through the front doors. For security purposes, back doors remain locked throughout the morning.
- No Alternative Drop-Offs: There is no dropping off or picking up allowed in the back of the building, along the sides, or within the parking lot. These areas are not supervised for student arrival.
- Follow the Rules: Drivers are expected to follow all posted traffic signs and rules, both on school grounds and on the surrounding public streets.

WELCOME, DEPUTY KENNETH BROWN
Deputy Brown was raised in Detroit and attended Catholic Schools all of his life except for one year of public school in Detroit. He graduated from Benedictine High School a long time ago, lol. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan - Dearborn. Deputy Brown was married and has two high school aged daughters at Berkley High School. He has been with the Sheriff's Office for 19 years now. Also, worked as a patrol deputy and a detective for the Rochester Hills substation for the last 13 years. Deputy Brown enjoys learning about different cultures and people. He enjoys traveling to see historical areas. Deputy Brown enjoys sports, period! Just about all of them. However, his heart will always be for the hometown teams in Detroit. I enjoy attending all types of sporting events along with sampling different foods. He wants everyone to know that his door at Adams High School will always be open for any kind of discussion and assistance requested!

CLOSED CAMPUS LUNCH
Please note that that Adams High School follows a CLOSED CAMPUS LUNCH. Students are required to stay in the building during their lunch period. We understand that students must sometimes need to leave during lunch for appointments. If your student leaves during their lunch period or during the hours of 10:42-12:20, they will be marked absent in their 4th hour and will not be allowed to participate in their sport or extra-curricular activity for that day. Your students safety is always our priority. Thank you for your cooperation!
Parents/Guardians, PLEASE encourage your students to check the lost and found table outside the main office. Also, if your student has lost a phone, air pods, jewelry or any valuables please have them check with Deputy Kenneth Brown in the main office.
SENIOR BOOK RETURN
Seniors can drop off their textbooks or class novels any day to Mrs. Kesman at her desk in the Main Office.
In addition, the book room will be open before school at 7:00am and after school at 2:30pm to collect textbooks and class novels on Friday, May 15, Monday, May 18 and Tuesday, May 19.
All books are required to be turned in before Graduation tickets will be distributed on Thursday, May 21st.

SENIOR DEVICE RETURN
Dear seniors and parents/guardians,
Senior Students who have a 1:1 District Issued Chromebook checked out to them will be required to turn in their device before Graduation. AHS will be hosting a collection on Tuesday, May 19th from 7:00AM – 10:45 AM during Senior Checkout in the aux gym. Chromebooks, Laptops and Hotspots, WITH original Dell 65W charging cables and cases will need to be returned.
Devices will be assessed as they are returned. Be sure to check the following, prior to returning your device:
● Check the device is yours (not a sibling or friend)
○ Log out of device - note name in upper right corner of screen when you turn the device on to verify it is yours.
● NO personal labels/stickers/decals on devices
● Include RCS district issued Dell 65W charger and Gumdrop case
Fees for damage or replacement can be paid with cash, credit card, or check made payable to Rochester Community Schools. Any and all applicable fees will be collected at time of return.

JUNIORS: Meetings for Post-High School Planning
On Thursday, May 28th, counselors will meet with juniors to explain options following graduation, the college application process, and what they can do over summer. All of the information shared will be available on students’ Class of 2027 Google Classroom.
Additionally, counselors meet with seniors early in September to explain the college application process in detail, and to have seniors review their transcripts prior to sending them. Following the senior large group meetings, counselors meet individually with each senior to discuss their goals and progress.
Starting now, and continuing through senior year, it is vital that students read their RCS emails and posts in the Class of 2027 Google Classroom. Counselors and the senior class advisor post a wealth of important information regarding college applications, post high school planning, senior events, various opportunities, and more.

Through grant funding we have Mr. Charles Hayes at Adams this year. He can provide extra guidance and support with the following:

You can obtain a work permit in the counseling office as well as in the main office. Make sure to choose the appropriate form (there is a form for UNDER 16 and a separate form for 16 & 17 years old). Complete Section I, have your employer complete Section II, then bring it back to AHS to be completed. If a parent is bringing the form for their student, we will need a photo ID of the student in order to complete the work permit. Work permits are completed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Please remember that a MHSAA pre-participation sports physical is required for all RCS student-athletes who participate in sports during the 2025-26 school year. A valid 2025-26 physical examination must be completed on or after April 15, 2025.
- This physical MUST BE SIGNED BY A DOCTOR and uploaded to your Final Forms account. Please make sure you and your student athlete have signed all forms where signatures are needed in final forms.
- Your student athlete will have a red icon if something is not filled out.

On Oct. 3, 2025, the Michigan legislature passed a state education budget that includes free breakfast and lunch at school through the Michigan School Meals program. Governor Whitmer signed the legislation as she previously expressed her support of the Michigan School Meals program.
Rochester Community Schools families will continue to offer free meals for ALL students on school days.
Daily menus and nutrition information are available at the food services page on the district website. Please follow the Nutrislice menu button.
Families in need are encouraged to complete an application to qualify for additional community resources and benefits.
Families who complete the Application for Summer EBT and Education Benefits for Michigan School Meals Program (formerly called the Free and Reduced-Price School Meals application), may be eligible for student benefits, discounts and waivers including: free pay-to-participate extracurricular activities and club fees; testing and college application fees; field trips, school activities, senior all-night parties, etc.; Operation School Bell and Assistance League of Southeastern Michigan; Rochester Area Youth Assistance; Fueling Kids’ Futures - One Meal at a Time, formerly Blessings in a Backpack; and other resources through charitable organizations.
A new application is required at the beginning of each school year.
Additionally, families in need should be aware of Fueling Kids’ Futures – One Meal at a Time, formerly Blessings in a Backpack, which is designed to help meet the nutritional needs of school-age children who participate in the Free or Reduced-Price School Meals program at school.
Each week during the school year, students enrolled in the program will receive a bag of non-perishable food items to take home on the weekends. Bags are dispensed in a discreet and caring manner. Why are we changing this process?
- Our current process requires all families to come to the Administration Building to swap their Chromebook out for a replacement device.
- This creates long delays for students to complete schoolwork at home
- Families need to make special arrangements to come to the Administration Building, usually resulting in them taking off work.
- Ongoing construction in front of the Administration Building causes confusion & frustration for families trying to get to their appointments
What will the new process look like?
- The student will bring their Chromebook to the Media Center for the TA to inspect for damage
- TA will determine if payment is needed to replace device
- In certain cases, an Elementary TA will swap the device at the building if no payment is needed.
- If payment is needed, an Incident IQ ticket will be created
- TA sends Chromebook to Help Desk @ Admin DQ
- Help Desk assess damage and contacts parent/guardian of damage and cost to replace
- Card Payment Preferred but cash or check option is available
- Once payment is made, Help Desk will send a replacement device to your buildings TA
- TA will receive the device and deliver the device to student/teacher
How will this new process help families & students receive the best support?
- Families will no longer have to make arrangements to come to the Administration Building
- Turnaround time will be faster for students.

What will be happening to our appointment site?
- The appointment site will not be going away, I will be working with the site manager to update the site to now have a page to let them know of the new way to get their student’s device repaired.
Can appointments still be made to come to the Admin Building?
- Yes! Appointments will still be available on the same days of the week at the same times. We understand that parents/guardians prefer to come in person, rather than have everything done through email/on the phone. We also understand that some parents/guardians may have availability in their schedule to take care of this faster than the new workflow.
Will this process also work for students who need to purchase replacement chargers?

RAHCC RECRUITINGThe Rochester Auburn Hills Community Coalition (RAHCC) Youth Action Council is looking for middle and high school students to volunteer for community events all year long. Students will gain leadership skills, earn community service hours and help make a difference. The RAHCC supports mental health, builds awareness about substance misuse, and encourages healthy lifestyle choices through programming in the schools and throughout the community. The Coalition also awards a scholarship to deserving students. If interested, please send an email with your name, grade (in the fall) and school to:
