Students who decide to take part in these events will be responsible for all missed work and assessments that occur on that day. Teachers will be continuing instruction as normal.

SOCIAL JUSTICE CLUB
June 1st officially marks the first day of Pride month, an annual month-long observance of LGBTQ+ history, and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements. LGBTQ+ Pride Month was created originally as a celebration each year in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. The first Pride march in New York City was held on June 28, 1970, on the first anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. President Bill Clinton officially declared June as Gay and Lesbian Pride Month in 2000 and President Barack Obama expanded the observance in 2011 to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month.
Today, celebrations include pride parades, picnics, parties, workshops, symposia, and concerts. LGBTQ+ Pride Month events attract millions of participants around the world. In Michigan, we in Rochester are also fortunate to have an annual pride celebration each year. It is also common for memorials to be held during this month for those members of the community who have been lost to hate crimes or HIV/AIDS.
Pride Month is a time for people to feel pride and love within themselves, as well as celebrate those in their lives who have been supportive of them. Pride is also a time for us to reflect on the progress we've made towards LGBTQ+ equality and to acknowledge the fact that we stand on the shoulders of all those who have fought so hard over the years to achieve this. It is also a time for us to acknowledge that we still have so much more to do. The GSA wishes everyone a very happy Pride month and is always educating, advocating, and supporting the LGBTQ+ community and allies.

The content in the video link below covers two important areas:
1)If you see something, say something – Asking all students to report anything that makes them uncomfortable, scared or unsafe.
