If your child has an early dismissal please call the attendance line as early as possible in the day at 248-726-5310. This is an automated number that is checked continuously between 6:30am – 3:00pm. Have your student pick up their pass in the morning, during passing time, or at lunch. We do not deliver passes. However, we will deliver a pass if it is a last minute emergency.
Please feel free to utilize the PARENTVUE to report an absence (full day or partial day). Simply note in the COMMENT SECTION, the time of the early dismissal or late arrival.
If you do not call to report the early dismissal you will have to wait until one of our Safe-Ed Security interrupts the class to get the student which can take up to 15 minutes. Once the early dismissal is reported and the student has picked up their pass they are free to meet you in the pick-up loop. You are not required to come into the building.

LGBTQ+ PRIDE MONTH - GSA
June 1st officially marks the first day of Pride month, an annual month-long observance of LGBTQ+ history, and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements. LGBTQ+ Pride Month was created originally as a celebration each year in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. The first Pride march in New York City was held on June 28, 1970, on the first anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. President Bill Clinton officially declared June as Gay and Lesbian Pride Month in 2000 and President Barack Obama expanded the observance in 2011 to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month.
Today, celebrations include pride parades, picnics, parties, workshops, symposia, and concerts. LGBTQ+ Pride Month events attract millions of participants around the world. In Michigan, we in Rochester are also fortunate to have an annual pride celebration each year. It is also common for memorials to be held during this month for those members of the community who have been lost to hate crimes or HIV/AIDS.
Pride Month is a time for people to feel pride and love within themselves, as well as celebrate those in their lives who have been supportive of them. Pride is also a time for us to reflect on the progress we've made towards LGBTQ+ equality and to acknowledge the fact that we stand on the shoulders of all those who have fought so hard over the years to achieve this. It is also a time for us to acknowledge that we still have so much more to do. The GSA wishes everyone a very happy Pride month and is always educating, advocating, and supporting the LGBTQ+ community and allies.

The AHS Counselors are wishing everyone a safe and healthy summer!! We look forward to seeing you in the fall!!
ATTENTION JUNIOR PARENTS - IMPORTANT COLLEGE INFORMATION
Counselors met with all juniors this week to discuss the college application process. Students were given a College Tip Sheet (linked HERE) with information regarding the process.
Information and suggestions for summer:
· Clean up social media accounts and make sure your email address is appropriate. Create a new account, if needed.
· Clean up your work space and room at home, so you are organized for the college application process.
· Get a job and save some money.
· Develop a plan for keeping all your online college and scholarship account logins and passwords organized and accessible.
· Research colleges, talk with people, join mailing lists, etc. to keep building your list.
· Make time for college visits/tours/open houses.
· Many colleges are “test optional” for admissions, meaning they do not require an SAT or ACT score. However, if you want or need to send a score, take an ACT or SAT. If you missed the spring tests, you could sign up for an early fall test now and study over the summer. If you have a score you’re ready to send, you send it via www.collegeboard.org or www.act.org .
· Most applications open August 1st, so you may begin working on them. It’s especially wise to begin drafting your college essays (if you have them) over the summer if possible! This can save you time in the fall.
· Transcripts will not be available for college applications until mid-September, after you’ve had a chance to review your transcript and hear more details about the process from counselors.
· Create a www.parchment.com account so you are ready to send transcripts in the fall.
· Look up your AP scores in July, and then explore the potential credit awarded at your college of interest.
