COVID-19 PROTOCOLS
Dear RCS Families,
On Tuesday, August 24, 2021, the Oakland County Health Division (OCHD) issued an Emergency Order (2021-01) for Control of Pandemic, which is effective immediately. The order states that daycares and educational institutions, to include pre-kindergarten through grade 12, are required to ensure all students, teachers, staff and community members consistently and properly wear facial coverings while inside a school building or structure, regardless of vaccination status. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also requires masks to be worn on school buses.
We have received updated guidance from the Oakland County Health Division (OCHD) specific to extracurricular activities. It states that students, school employees, and volunteers participating in extracurricular activities/sports are required to wear masks while inside an educational institution.
The Oakland County Health Division (OCHD) mask order for schools will remain in effect until community transmission for Oakland County is categorized as “moderate” by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for at least 14 consecutive days or until further notice from the Oakland County Health Officer. Additionally, the CDC continues to require masks on buses.
*In the event that a student forgets their mask at home, staff members will offer the student a face covering.*

BUS DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP
NEWS!
All general education students who ride a bus to Adams and Van Hoosen will be dropped off and picked up using the Van Hoosen bus loop. Adams students will walk along the football field walkway to and from the bus loop at Van Hoosen. Enter at the Athletic Entrance door #11 (near the tennis courts).
In an effort to address safety concerns, the administration asks for your cooperation during drop-off and pick-up to allow for a safe and smooth school drop-off dismissal. Please see the attached traffic flow diagram of the drop off/pick-up loops below.
* The entire loop is wide enough for two cars to be side by side creating an outer and inner lane.
* The outer lane (right lane) nearest the sidewalk is for student drop off; student drop off may take place at any point along the sidewalk. (See Diagram).
* The inner lane (left lane) is for PASSING ONLY! DO NOT DROP your student off in the inner lane - this is very important for safety reasons. (See Diagram).
* Students should be dropped off at the first available drop off area and then proceed to the building along the sidewalk.
* PULL FORWARD. DO NOT STOP at the main entrance doors if there is room to pull forward.
* Please be mindful of the crosswalk passing through the loop and be cautious while entering and exiting the loop.
* Cars traveling on Highlander Highway and not entering the loop have the right away and will not stop. Cars exiting the loop have a stop sign. (See Diagram).
* We are asking that ALL parents drop off and pick up student is the loop.
* Please note the loop was reconfigured to allow both left and right turns while exiting on to Tienken. Please be careful, courteous and take you time.
Dropping off or picking up students in athletic, auditorium or staff parking lots, or in undesignated areas create traffic problems and dangerous situations for students and staff and is prohibited!

All seniors for the class of 2022 need to get their YEARBOOK PHOTO taken by Prestige Portraits. This service is provided free of charge and includes inclusion in the yearbook, as well as on the class composite. Students must have their yearbook photo taken by October 31, 2021 in studio (see address below). Once the photos are processed, students/parents must choose their preferred photo by November 15, 2021. If a pose is not chosen by that date, the studio will choose a pose to be submitted. Prestige will then send the photo directly to Mr. Lovalvo. There is nothing else that the student (or parent) needs to do in order to appear in the yearbook or on the class composite.
Students and parents will still have the opportunity to go to their preferred choice of photographer, if it is not Prestige Portraits, for their other senior photos. While only the yearbook pose sitting fee is FREE OF CHARGE, Prestige will be offering significant discounts for other senior picture packages as well.
Please remember that this is a more formal section of the yearbook than the underclassmen photo section. Because of this, students need to dress up - shirt/tie/suit coat, collared shirt, dress, blouse, etc. All clothing needs to meet these specifications and the RCS dress code policy in order to be included in the yearbook and on the class composite. If you (or your child) need help obtaining proper attire, need more information regarding attire, or need help with transportation to the studio, please contact Mr. Lovalvo at [email protected].
Please call 248-377-2444 or go online at https://bit.ly/PRESTIGE_OAKLANDTWP and make a senior portrait appointment as soon as possible. Although the deadline to be photographed is October 30, 2021, appointments fill quickly. Students who do not get their yearbook photo taken with Prestige by the deadline will not appear in the senior section of the yearbook.
